Self Astral Projection: method 1

November 29th, 2006

Over the years I’ve read countless books on the subject of Astral Projection, some with adventures and some with methods and theories. From what I understand there are many methods people use to trigger an Out of Body experience. I’m going to explain one of the most easiest and successful methods. There are many variation of this method, but I’ll stick with the simplest one.
1. First choose a time in advance (for example, when you wake one morning - say to yourself - tonight I will have an OBE)

2. For several hours before your chosen time, keep reminding yourself of your goal.

3. Go to bed a little earlier than usual if possible.

4. Set your alarm for 4 hours after your expect to fall asleep.

5. When you are relaxing and drifting off to sleep, give yourself another reminder of your intentions.

6. Once you are awakened by your alarm, get up for about 20 minutes and do not do anything which requires much thought (even relax on the couch, but don’t fall asleep!)

7. Go back to bed and lie on your back in a comfortable position.

8. Close your eyes and think about standing somewhere else in your bedroom.

9. Imagine standing looking across your room.

10. Keep this vision in mind as you fall asleep - do not think about anything else.

11. While having this vision, say to yourself you will now go Out of Body.
…… and with some luck you will find yourself Out of Body and standing in your room.

If this does not work the first time, do not worry - just repeat the same again another night.
In my next posts, I’ll explain some other popular methods.

Please share your experience if you have attempted the above, I’d love to hear how you got on.

Yeah i found an alturnative method were during the day you make reality cheaks and before going to sleep tell yourself that you will become lucid and from a lucid bream make a projection i prefer to take the route of dream recall and lucid dreaming actually i own many books on the subject.Im no expert and have had only a few out of body experiences but its hard work and thats the thing. you have to keep trying if you want to have this experience

I am currently starting to learn this skill myself. I had some good experiences with lucid dreaming, but could not use them to get out. What is your technique to do so when you get lucid?

I have an important question to ask on if i should see a psychologist or someone. Since i was 12 i have been doing this thing, were i concentrate on life and everything at once, and my mind would sort of leave my body and i could see my self and this world as if i was in another dimension. and the farther my mind drifted, the more this life seemed unreal. But i never let myself go cuz the feeling i got when i took my mind there was great understanding feeling, but it is a scary feeling like if my mind went all the way to where that place is. Then my body/brain here will shut down. The feeling is so intense that i get afraid to do it. im 25 now and i hardly have to concentrate now to do it. I just want to understand what will happen if i let my mind go there all the way. I havent met anyone thats been able to do this. Its extremely hard to explain the feeling. Im afraid because i have gotten to the point where i dont even have to concentrate at all. I can just make it happen..I just need some advice.

I have tried night and early morning obe’s and since I started about a year ago, I have not yet had any at this time. I have been very successful in the afternoon nap time between 2-5 pm. I work a 2nd shift and I am usually too tired at night, but I have had many in the afternoon, and it feels safer in the daytime. Some people have trouble because of the light, but that has never been a problem for me.
I am on a medical leave now and I nap in the afternoon. On Monday evening about 1030 pm I was reading and began to get tired. I put the book down and started to meditate. In about 15 minutes the vibrations started and after a period of time I willed myself to see (can’t try to use physical eyes or you will stop the projection) and I immediately saw the left wall of my bedroom. As I watched I saw about 7 picture screens, like flat screen tv’s. They all had different moving pictures like videos playing. I tried but I just couldn’t comprehend all of them at once. While all of this was going on, the song by B.J. Thomas,”Whatever happened to old fashioned love”, was playing. I am deaf in my left ear and I heard it in stereo or better. I have picked up radio in this left ear because of metal in my neck and ear from operations, but it is never load enough to hear the exact words of songs or anouncers.
Then the screens stopped and I thought about crawling up the wall to the ceiling. Again, immediately I was doing it. As I was examining the ceiling, I heard my wife cough, I wasn’t startled because she had a cold. I continued to crawl and look when she started to get out of bed and the bed moved my body and that ended my projection.

I’ve an obe which was great but its totally different then sleep paralysis. Several times i woke up unable to move. The originally dark room was full of white light and someone else was in the room with me and started pushing down on my chest so I couldn’t breath. Freaky but not an obe. I suspect I was still dreaming while awake somehow. This is probably where all the alien abduction stories come from but aren’t really true. I would say an obe feels more “real” then everyday life.
